Thousands of Returnees Setting Out to Rebuild Their Lives as Peace Returns to CAR

Thousands of returnees are setting out to rebuild their lives as peace returns to the Central African Republic. In 2025, about 42,000 refugees returned to West and Central Africa, many of them starting small enterprises like market gardening and soap production. In order to assist returnees in thriving and achieving sustainable reintegration, UNHCR is actively supporting these programs by offering training and resources.
