With a total of 81 matches played in the nose in August, Martin Stroby of Sweden officially won the title, much exceeding the previous record of 68.
According to Martin 42, his two children said it would be “so cool” to see him in Guinness World Records while they were flicking through its pages.
Martin decided to go for it after doing a test run on one nostril and discovering he could fit 35 matches inside.
He said: “After doing the trial run, I discovered I could both stretch my nostrils a lot and also ignore the pain from putting all those matches in there, so I would say I’m a natural.”
According to Martin, matches kept falling out of his nostrils, so he did try to find a proper method. After a few more trial runs, he was able to identify a method that would reduce the amount of matches that falling out. With 81 matches, he ultimately broke the record.
