
A speedboat carrying three passengers struck a whale and its calf south of Sydney, prompting Australian boaters to exercise caution.
According to 7 News, Australia,in unsettling image of a southern right whale and its calf south was taken on Saturday afternoon in the waters around Stanwell Park.
Just below the surface, the two were swimming when the boat struck them. Both the whale and the calf are said to have escaped with minor wounds. This week, the whales will continue their yearly journey northward, which they have just started.
First spotted on June 12 off Bass Point without the calf, the mother was later found on July 10 with her infant close to Meriumbula.
