
The Pyrenean Shepherd is a robust dog with a short, slender frame and a distinctive triangular head that was first bred to herd sheep in the French Pyrenees Mountains.
Pyrenean Shepherd comes in two variations. Rough-Faced and Smooth-Faced.Both variations have nearly flat or slightly wavy hair with a rough texture.
The rough-faced dog has longer, thicker, rougher hair, while the smooth-faced version has shorter, finer hair on the muzzle and longer, softer, finer hair on the head and body. Fawn, tan, copper, black, grey, brindle, black, and black-and-white are among the coat colors.
Compared to their smooth-faced counterparts, rough-faced Pyrenean Shepherds are a bit smaller. Females are 15 to 18 inches tall or 38 to 45 cm, whereas rough males are 15.5 to 18.5 inches or 39 to 46 cm .Smooth males measure 15.5 to 21 inches or 39 to 53 cm in height, while females from 15.5 to 20.5 or 39 to 53 cm.Women weigh between 15 and 32 pounds or 6 to 14 kgs, whereas men might weigh between 15 and 35 pounds or 6 to 15 kgs, average lifespan 12 to 16 years.
Pyrenean Shepherds are brave, friendly dogs.They are friendly and loving dogs that get along well with kids.As this breed is protective, early socialization and training are important.
