The Reserve Bank of India is introducing a Digital Payments Intelligence Platform (DPIP) that will use artificial intelligence (AI) to instantly identify and stop payment fraud. Suspicious entities will first be flagged by a negative register, and as the platform grows, it will analyze transactions and assign risk rankings for preventive actions.
RBI’s planned Digital Payments Intelligence Platform (DPIP) would use AI to identify and stop payment frauds in real time. According to officials, the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has constructed a negative register in its initial phase that combines information from telecom companies and the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) to identify suspicious or fraudulent entities.
After it launches, DPIP will compile information from multiple channels to identify threats and fight online fraud. Financial institutions will be able to respond swiftly to new risks thanks to real-time information exchange, guaranteeing safer online transactions.
DPIP seeks to identify unusual behavior and suspicious activity early by integrating AI-driven analytics and encouraging rapid fraud information sharing among institutions.

Phishing scams seek to trick users into divulging private information such as login credentials, card numbers, or OTPs. These frauds typically appear as emails, phony websites, or texts purporting to be from reputable banks or payment services.
Cybercriminals share fake QR codes or payment requests to deceive customers into authorizing transactions as UPI gains popularity in India.
