Peruvian Inca Orchid

The Peruvian Inca Orchid, an intelligent and elegant dog, is a loyal companion and a good hunting dog. The most common orchids are hairless, though there are coated varieties as well.

Dating back to 350 BC, the Peruvian Inca Orchid is an ancient breed. Pottery from the Moche, Chimu, Chancay, and Incan cultures showed evidence of these dogs. Curiously, their body heat was utilized to treat respiratory and arthritic ailments, and their urine was employed as medicine.Furthermore, some people thought the breed was bring luck.

These loving companion dogs are basically sighthounds like Greyhounds.The Peruvian Inca Orchid, varies in size under 10 inches to the largest-almost 26 inches.Average life expectancy 10 to 12 years.For the breed to remain healthy, it still needs a lot of daily exercise and maintenance.The weight range of the wide variety of Inca orchids is 25 to 50 pounds.

Now protected nationwide, the Peruvian Inca orchid, more commonly known as a Peruvian hairless dog, was officially declared a National Patrimony by the Peruvian government in 2001.
