The Polish defence ministry (MoD) has confirmed that an unidentified object that exploded after falling into a cornfield in the hamlet of Osiny, in the Lubelskie district of eastern Poland, is most likely a so-called decoy drone.
Marcin Jozwik of the Osiny police department told Polish News Agency that just after two in the morning on Wednesday, officers had received a report of an explosion in a nearby cornfield.
When police officers got there, they discovered “burnt metal and plastic debris scattered over a radius of several dozen meters,” he said.
Jozwik noted that while the explosion broke windows in a number of houses, no one was hurt. Also, he added that the security services had been attempting to identify the object’s origin.
