Thirty-five miles off the coast of Wilmington, North Carolina,United States, Christian Corbitt, owner of Encounter Scuba and founder of Apex Fossils, uncovered a roughly 6-inch preserved Megalodon tooth.
In order to discover it, Corbitt told CBS 17 ,he anchored offshore for two days and one night.
He added that in order to find fossilized remains of the extinct apex predator, he conducted four advanced decompression dives every day.
He said that by using a closed-circuit rebreather system, he was able to stay below for a much longer than is possible with conventional scuba equipment.
