A horrifying collapse happened minutes after four Jersey Shore police officers were captured on camera inspecting a house in Egg Harbor Township and attempting to calm a restless dog.
The officers found only one dog in the house, but he wasn’t cooperating.Officer Orlando told local TV station that right before the house collapsed, everyone managed to flee when a neighbor helped in controlling the dog, NBC 10 Philadelphia reports.
According to investigators, the fire was unintentional and most likely started by an attic heating unit. The homeowner believes that the recent cold weather played a role.
Despite suffering injuries on the scene, one firefighter is expected to fully recover.
