In the capital city Douglas of Isle of Man (situated between Great Britain and Ireland in the middle of the northern Irish Sea, the Isle of Man is a Crown dependency of the United Kingdom that spans just 572 km), a yellow mongoose that escaped from the Isle of Man’s wildlife park has been seen.
According to media reports, the Curraghs Wildlife Park has called the animal Gef. It vanished from the Ballaugh refuge last week, but it has since been sighted in Douglas, some 15 miles (24 km) distant. According to park manager Kathleen Graham, keepers set up traps in areas they knew the animal was in the hopes of safely capturing it.
The park had been looking around the area, but Ms. Graham said they were taken aback when a Union Mills resident called to report seeing the September-born young mongoose in their garden.
