
German Shepherds were crossed with Russian dog breeds such Caucasian, Central Asian, and Laika in the 1920s and 1930s to develop the East-European Shepherd.
As working dogs, East European Shepherds are known for their intelligence, loyalty, and agility.The East European Shepherd’s coat is solid black, solid liver, and blanket-back black and tan.Their undercoat is well-developed and their coat is medium in length.
East-European Shepherds are 26 to 30 inches (66 to 76 cm) tall for males and 24 to 28 inches (61 to 72 cm) tall for females, can weigh up to 50 to 60 kgs (110 to 132 pounds) for females.They have an average lifespan of 10 to 14 years.The East-European Shepherd is an excellent guard dog as well.
