A family pet’s normal walk almost ended in death after the dog consumed cocaine that had been left in a public park.
Nilak, a 2-year-old husky, was at a dog park with his owner Sara Bel just before Christmas when he picked up a napkin off the ground and swallowed it, CBC News reports.
She rushed Nilak to the veterinarian when she got him home because he refused to get out of the car and his head was unstable and bobbing.
She said that she was crying because she was so sure that she would have to put him down. The veterinarian informed her that it was cocaine.
Nilak overdosed on the cocaine-contaminated napkin, but he was going to survive.Other dog owners said that their pets overdosed on substances they found in public spaces but survived.
