The World Food Programme(WFP) estimates that nearly half of Haiti’s population is currently suffering from severe hunger.The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and World Food Programme (WFP) warn that a never-ending series of crises has imprisoned vulnerable Haitians in a cycle of escalating desperation, leaving them without access to food, fuel, markets, jobs, and public services, bringing the nation to a standstill.In Cité Soleil, a city district in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, the level of hunger has reached catastrophic proportions, or level 5 on the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC).Currently, 5 percent of the country’s population, who are also the poorest and most vulnerable, experience extreme food insecurity, making up 65 percent of the population.
