COVID-19 Situation Worldwide

In the last 24 hours, a total of 21 776 COVID-19 tests were performed in South Africa, with 880 new cases confirmed, reflecting a 4% positivity rate.

According to official South African Government News Agency, 51 more people died on Tuesday, taking the total number of people killed in COVID-19 to 54.

Twenty people died in Gauteng, 11 in the Western Cape, nine in KwaZulu-Natal, six in the Eastern Cape, three in the Free State, and two in the Northern Cape, according to South African Health Minister Dr Zweli Mkhize.

After 1 502 986 patients were rehabilitated, the overall recovery rate remained at 95%, with 19 977 active cases in the nation,the Agency reports.

As of April 27, 2021, WHO had received reports of 147,539,302 confirmed cases of COVID, with 3,116,444 deaths. A total of 961,231,417 vaccine doses had been distributed as of April 26, 2021.

In the last 24 hours, India has reported 3,60,960 new Covid-19 cases and 3,293 deaths, the highest number ever recorded in the world. With today’s figures, the total number of coronavirus cases has risen to 1,79,97,267, with 2,01,187 fatalities. There are currently 29,78,709 active cases in India, with 1,48,17,371 people having recovered.
