The national dog of Norway is the Black Norwegian Elkhound, also known as Norsk Elghund. Large and small game animals have historically been tracked and bayed by the ancient breed Norwegian Elkhound.
The term “Elkhound” comes from the Norwegian word “Elghund,” which means “elk dog” or “moose dog.”
The majority of them have thick gray, black, and silver fur and are between 19 and 20 inches tall and weigh 23–25 kg, whereas females are 20–23 kg.
