A non-venomous constrictor snake, the ball python is indigenous to the tropical regions of West and Central Africa. They live in open forests, grasslands, and savannas in the wild. When threatened, they have a propensity to roll up into a ball, hence the name “Ball Python.”
The snake species typically measure between three and five feet in length and can reach a maximum length of six feet. They have short skulls and stocky bodies and have a lifespan of atleast 15 years. They are known their stunning markings and a remarkable variety of morphs, or color and pattern variants.
A smaller enclosure is suitable for ball pythons because they are not very active snakes.Glass tanks or aquariums can serve as suitable enclosure. An adult ball python can be kept comfortably in an enclosure measuring 36 x 18 x 12 inches and need suitable temperature. They only eat once a week.A thermal gradient in their habitat is necessary for ball pythons to be able to warm up and cool down as needed.
For your snake to drink or bathe, fresh water should be available every day in a dish or bowl. They require practically minimal upkeep. In the wild, royal pythons feed a wide range of prey, but in captivity, you should give them Frozen rodents.Typically, larger ball pythons eat once every week or two, but smaller or younger ones need to eat every five or six days.
