A teenager who was stuck 30 meters up on a crane in Ivanhoe while trying to take a picture of the Melbourne skyline was rescued by a bold high-angle rescue operation.
A dramatic rescue mission that lasted more than two hours began when 17-year-old Jason climbed the tall crane and soon realized it was too unsafe to descend, 7 News Australia reports.
When a bystander called the police at around 8:00 p.m., emergency personnel hurried to the site, causing what witnesses called “an absolute light show.”
Jason tossed handwritten letters from his school bag down to the rescuers below, using an unusable phone.
Emergency personnel reportedly tried to maintain the teen’s composure during the incident, according to witnesses.
