After being told to stop breastfeeding her child at a public pool, a new mother was shocked and determined to educate other mothers about their rights.
Yolanda Shipley was publicly shamed for uses breastfeeding to calm her seven-month-old, 7 News, Australia reports.
According to her, someone told her that she couldn’t breastfeed her in the water. She was not permitted to do that.
Western Sydney’s Blacktown City Council spokesman issued an apology in a statement for any offense or hurt Yolanda Shipley may have experienced. The decision to forbid breastfeeding in the pool itself, however, was upheld, citing hygienic and safety concerns.
