On August 10, a female passenger on Ibom Air flight Q9 303 from Uyo to Lagos,Nigeria, was involved in a violent altercation. As a result, the Airline Operators of Nigeria (AON) banned her from flying for life.
AON stated in a press release that it had read the “detailed statement issued by Ibom Air” and that it completely supported the airline’s prompt and courteous resolution of what it called “one of the most severe cases of unruly passenger behaviour witnessed this year.”
The incident started when Comfort Emmanson, a female passenger, disregarded safety instructions to turn off her phone before to takeoff, according to AON, CKN News reports.
After the flight landed in Lagos, Emmerson allegedly tried to use a fire extinguisher as a weapon, and the incident developed into a “brutal physical assault” on crew members, according to Ibom Air’s earlier statement.
Emmanson has now been placed on the association’s “No Fly” list forever, which prohibits her from flying domestically or abroad “for life” with any AON member airline, according to the group.
