
Nirri Cole was able to locate her father, a fallen police officer, after three years of searching through a neglected and overgrown graveyard with the help of committed local volunteers.
The ultimate resting place of her late father, Nathamoney Pandarum, a distinguished police officer who died in the line of duty in 1988, was made accessible to Cole by local volunteer Deon van Niekerk and his hardworking team, who cleaned up the Mountain Rise Cemetery,Pietermaritzburg, South Africa, The Post, Durban reports.
In the 1970s, her father, who was originally from Isipingo, moved to Pietermaritzburg and joined the Railway Police.He served until his untimely death in the line of duty at the age of 47 in 1986, when the Railway Police became part of the South African Police.
Over the years, Cole said, it has gotten harder to visit his grave, particularly given the condition of the Mountain Rise Cemetery. The place was covered with grass, the area was dangerous, and she felt helpless when she last tried to find it in 2022.
