In downtown Los Angeles, a 20-foot python with a serious mouth illness was just discovered left in a dumpster. According to reports, police and animal control refused to help, so a local reptile handler saved the snake.
The snake’s mouth was swelled from a severe infection, which reptile handler Joseph Hart, who founded t.e rescue group SoCal Reptile Hunter, later stated is typical in the pet trade. Hart found the snake in a small bin, Fox 11 Los Angeles reports.
After reports that the local police, animal control, and other animal agencies either refused to remove the python or threatened to put it down, worried neighbours contacted Hart.
As it recovers, the snake will probably be used as a educational animal to teach people how to properly care for reptiles.
