On November 29, early in the morning, a raccoon broke into a store through the ceiling. According to Virginia ABC, the cat caused damage to the security system, causing the security provider to issue a power outage warning.
When Hanover County Animal Protection and Shelter Officer Martin arrived at the Ashland ABC store, he found the raccoon unconscious in the restroom, local TV station WWBT reports.
The intoxicated raccoon was securely restrained by the officer and transported to an animal sanctuary for recuperation.
The raccoon was released back into the wild after resting for a few hours and showing no indications of harm.
Virginia ABC said that the racoon damaged $250 worth of liquor, although it did not clarify what booze the racoon might have drank during the break-in.
