At the Mammoth Mountain Ski Area in eastern California, a young snowboarder was left hanging from a chairlift before falling to the ground.
The 12-year-old girl was not securely fastened in the chairlift, which led to the horrifying incident at the ski resort on January 31, KTLA5 reports.
Mountain staff quickly rushed to assist, setting up padding and a safety net below in an attempt to catch her, but the girl mostly missed the net, crashing hard into the ground.
According to the girl’s mother, her daughter slipped as she entered the elevator and was unable to lower the safety bar. Fortunately, she claims that her daughter’s injuries from the incident were not severe.
